Patient Education

Treatment for cancer can be complicated as well as difficult to understand. Our doctors and nurses take extra time to explain a patient’s cancer, the treatment options available, and what to expect in terms of outcomes and side effects. No question is ever too trivial or unimportant for us. We invite questions from patients, provide answers to the best of our abilities, and research those answers to questions we do not know. Patients receiving chemotherapy watch a video and have a question and answer period with the doctor as well as again with a nurse until he or she is comfortable with the treatment plan. Literature and pamphlets are available upon request regarding a cancer diagnosis and various chemotherapy medications. When needed, we refer patients to academic centers and nationally recognized experts in a particular disease, and we work with them to provide our patients with the most updated therapies available.
